What this checks

  • Whether every block parses as valid JSON-LD
  • Which schema types the page declares
  • Errors that break the markup, kept separate from optional enhancements
  • Blocks that could not be parsed at all

Why it matters

Structured data is how you tell Google and the AI answer engines what your business is, in a form they do not have to guess at. It is what feeds the local pack, opening hours, review stars and the business facts an assistant repeats when someone asks about you. It is also invisible: markup can be broken for years while the page looks perfect to a human.

How to read the result

Errors and enhancements are deliberately shown apart, because they are different problems. An error means the block is broken and is doing nothing for you. An enhancement means the markup works but is missing a field Google looks for, like opening hours or an address, so you are giving a part-finished picture. Fix errors first. A clean parse is necessary and not sufficient: valid markup that describes the wrong thing still misleads.

Common questions

Is this the same as Google's Rich Results Test?

No. Google's test tells you which of its own rich results a page qualifies for. This checks that your markup parses, reports the types it found, and separates outright errors from missing recommended fields. Use both. They answer different questions.

What markup should a local business have?

At minimum LocalBusiness or a more specific subtype, with name, address, phone, opening hours and a link to your Google Business Profile. That set is what local results and AI answers lean on hardest, and it is the set most sites are missing.

My markup is valid but nothing shows in search. Why?

Valid markup makes you eligible for a rich result, never entitled to one. Google decides per query and per site, weighing trust and relevance. Valid markup that contradicts what is visible on the page is also a reason to be ignored.
