Link preview checker

See the card people get when they share your page, before they share it.

Free, instant, and nothing to sign up for.

Nothing you paste is stored.

What this checks

  • Every Open Graph and Twitter card tag on the page
  • Required tags that are missing
  • The image the card would use
  • A rendered preview built from what the tags actually say

Why it matters

When someone shares your page, the card is the whole first impression, and it is generated from tags nobody looks at. A missing image turns a share into a grey box with a URL in it, which measurably reduces how many people click. This costs nothing to fix and is invisible until the moment it matters, which is usually when someone with an audience shares you.

How to read the result

The preview is built from your tags, so it shows what the platforms have to work with. It is not a live render, and each platform applies its own crop and truncation. Facebook and LinkedIn also cache aggressively: if you fix the tags, use their own debugger to force a refresh, or you will keep seeing the old card for days and assume the fix failed.

Common questions

What size should the share image be?

1200 by 630 pixels is the safe default and works across Facebook, LinkedIn and X. Smaller images may be dropped entirely rather than scaled.

Do I need Twitter tags as well as Open Graph?

Usually not. X falls back to Open Graph when Twitter tags are absent. Add them when you want a different image or headline there.

Why is the old image still showing after I fixed it?

Platform caching. Facebook's Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn's Post Inspector both have a re-scrape button that clears it immediately.
