The Semrush alternative for people who want the work done, not more dashboards.
Semrush is the most complete SEO dataset most people will ever need, and it is priced accordingly, from $139 USD a month. It is a research and reporting platform: it will show you the gap in exquisite detail and it will not write the page or publish it. Argrow starts at $69 USD a month and does the writing, the approving and the publishing. If you have someone whose job is to act on data, buy Semrush. If you need the work to happen, read on.

Argrow vs Semrush
- Entry price
- Argrow $69 USD a month against $139 USD for Semrush's cheapest paid plan. Our Essential plan is $129 USD, still under their entry rung.
- Depth of keyword and backlink data
- Semrush Not close, and worth being blunt about. Semrush sells one of the largest keyword and backlink indexes in the industry, queried as much as your plan allows. Argrow looks up any domain or keyword you name, a set number of times a month. If research is the job, theirs is the tool.
- Writing and publishing the page
- Argrow Argrow drafts the page, queues it for your approval, publishes it into your CMS and then re-checks the live URL. Semrush advises; the writing and the publishing stay with you or your agency.
- AI-search visibility
- Both Semrush includes AI visibility in its base plans, tracking 50 prompts daily on Starter up to 200 on Advanced across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Argrow includes it on every plan too. This is a row where they match us, and their prompt volumes at the top end are higher.
- A free plan
- Semrush Semrush publishes a free tier at $0. Argrow does not: the cheapest way in is a 7-day trial that stores a card, or a free SEO audit that needs no payment details at all.
What Semrush is, fairly.
We would rather you bought the right tool than our tool. This section is written to be something their own team would sign off on.
Semrush is the incumbent all-in-one SEO and marketing platform: keyword research, backlink analysis, rank tracking, site auditing, content tools, advertising research, social and reporting, backed by one of the largest search datasets anyone sells. It is used by in-house teams, consultants and agencies who have someone whose job is to interpret it. It is a genuinely excellent piece of software and most of this page is about fit, not fault.
What they are genuinely good at- Data depth. The keyword and backlink indexes are among the largest commercially available, and the historical depth behind them is hard to match at any price.
- Competitive and advertising research. Traffic estimates, ad copy history and paid keyword data go well beyond what an SEO-only tool carries.
- Breadth of toolkit. Position tracking, site audit, content optimisation, link building, listing management, social and client reporting in one login.
- AI visibility is included in the paid plans rather than sold separately, tracking up to 200 prompts daily on the top tier across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini.
- A free plan exists, so you can see the interface and run limited research before paying anything.
What each one costs.
Semrush publishes a free plan and four paid tiers, with an annual rate shown beside each monthly one. AI visibility is included in the paid plans rather than sold as an add-on, with the daily tracked-prompt allowance rising by tier.

Where Argrow and Semrush actually diverge.
Feature lists overlap almost everywhere. These are the few places the choice is real.
It tells you what is wrong. We fix it and publish it.
This is the whole difference and everything else is detail. Semrush produces an audit, a keyword gap and a content brief, and then a human has to write the page, get it signed off, log into the CMS and publish it. Argrow drafts the page, puts it in an approval queue with a before and after, writes it into your CMS when you approve, and then re-fetches the live URL to confirm it is actually there. Semrush is a research platform. Argrow is the work.
Half the entry price, because it is a narrower product
Argrow Starter is $69 USD a month against $139 USD for Semrush's cheapest paid plan, and that is not a discount on the same thing. You are not buying their index. You are buying a set number of lookups a month plus the drafting, approval and publishing that they do not do. For a single business that wants pages shipped, that trade is usually the right way round. For a consultant billing research, it is not.
Every change is proposed, snapshotted and reversible
Because Argrow writes to your live site, it treats that as a serious act. Every change goes through an approval queue, the previous value is snapshotted before anything is written, each individual change has one-click rollback, and the live URL is re-checked afterwards. Semrush does not write to your site, so it does not need any of this. Worth understanding as a difference in kind, not a scoreboard.
A stated response window on every plan
Every Argrow plan carries a committed first-response window, from 10 business days on Starter to 1 on Premium, and you are billed in your own currency at checkout rather than converted at a rate you discover on your statement.

- 1Argrow Starter is $69 USD a month; Semrush's cheapest paid plan (SEO) is $139 USD a month, or $117.33/mo billed annually. Both as published on 1 September 2026.
- 2Semrush publishes a free tier. Argrow has no free plan: a 7-day trial that stores a card, or a free SEO audit that needs no payment details. Their door in is genuinely lower than ours and we would rather you heard it here.
- 3Argrow looks up any domain's backlink profile and any keyword's volume, difficulty and current top ten, but lookups are capped per plan, from 3 domains a month on Starter to 80 on Premium, with no bulk export. This is the single biggest reason to stay with Semrush.
- 4Semrush carries content tools and briefs, and its writing assistant will produce copy. The distinction we are drawing is the end of the chain: getting the finished page onto the live site.
- 5Argrow publishes to WordPress and other connectors, then re-fetches the public URL and reopens the task if the change is not present. We found no published capability in Semrush for writing a finished page into your CMS as at 1 September 2026.
- 6Argrow detects the builder per page and writes native builder blocks across 11 writable builders. Semrush does not publish to page builders, so this is a capability they do not claim rather than one they fail at.
- 7Semrush does not write to your site, so it has nothing to snapshot or roll back. Listed because it matters when comparing what each product does, not as a mark against them.
- 8Both include it. Semrush tracks 50 prompts daily on Starter, 100 on Pro+ and 200 on Advanced across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Argrow includes AI visibility on every plan including Starter at $69. Their volumes at the top end are higher than ours.
- 9Semrush covers local through Listing Management and Map Rank Tracker. Both are properly covered.
- 10Semrush's paid-keyword, ad-copy and traffic-estimate research is a category of its own. Argrow reports Google Ads visibility and Meta ad performance for connected accounts, which is a narrower thing.
- 11The difference is a committed window per plan, not the presence of support. Our team is in Australia (UTC+10), so replies land overnight for the Americas.
Comparison reflects each vendor's publicly published information on the date shown and may change. Argrow rows reflect shipping behaviour in our own platform. All product names and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Checked 1 September 2026.
Which one should you actually buy?
Choose Semrush if
- Research is the work itself, and you need to query a deep keyword and backlink index as much as you like rather than run a set number of lookups a month.
- You have someone whose job is to read the data and act on it, in-house or at an agency.
- Paid-search and advertising research matter to you as much as organic.
- You want to start on a free plan and see the interface before paying anything.
- You are reporting to a board or a client who expects to see the name they already know.
Choose Argrow if
- You want the pages written, approved and published, not another dashboard telling you they should be.
- Nobody in the business has SEO as their actual job, so an audit that produces a to-do list produces nothing.
- Your site is built with a page builder and published pages have to match the design you already paid for.
- You want to approve every change before it touches your live site, and undo any single one.
- $139 USD a month for a tool you still have to operate is the part that does not work for you.
Common questions.
Is Argrow a direct Semrush replacement?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Semrush sells a keyword and backlink index far deeper than ours, plus advertising and traffic research we do not attempt. What Argrow replaces is the work that happens after the research: drafting the page, getting it approved, publishing it and checking it went live. Plenty of people buy Semrush for the data and never act on it, and those people are who we are for.
Does Semrush track AI-search visibility, or do I need something extra?
It is included, and it is worth correcting the common assumption. As at 1 September 2026 Semrush includes AI visibility in its paid plans, tracking 50 prompts daily on Starter, 100 on Pro+ and 200 on Advanced across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. That is genuinely a match for what we include. Where the add-on model still applies is elsewhere in the category: Ahrefs sells Brand Radar AI from $199 USD a month on top of a base plan, and SE Ranking sells an AI Search add-on at $89 USD a month.
How does the pricing actually compare?
Semrush's cheapest paid plan is $139 USD a month, or $117.33 a month billed annually. Argrow starts at $69 USD a month, and our Essential plan at $129 USD is still under their entry rung. They also have a free plan and we do not. The honest framing is that these are different products at different prices, not the same product at two prices.
Will I lose my keyword research if I switch?
Some of it, yes. Argrow looks up any domain or keyword you name, but a capped number of times a month, from 3 domain lookups on Starter to 80 on Premium, and there is no bulk export. If you run large research projects, keep Semrush for that and let Argrow do the publishing. The two sit alongside each other perfectly well.
Can I approve changes before they go live?
Every change, on every plan. Argrow proposes work into an approval queue with a before and after, snapshots the current value before writing, and gives you one-click rollback on any individual change. After publishing it re-checks the live URL and reopens the task if the change is not actually there.
Do you offer a free trial?
A 7-day trial. Your card is stored with Stripe to start it and nothing is charged during the trial. If you would rather see something before handing over any details, run the free SEO audit instead. It needs no payment details at all.
